BfDI

Abbreviation for Bundesbeauftragte für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit

In short and in plain language

The BfDI is the German federal watchdog for data protection.

It gives advice and checks. It also puts out tips. One topic is how to keep track of cookie consent in one place.

For most small firms, though, the data office of their own state is in charge.

Definition
The BfDI is the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in Germany. The office advises, supervises and publishes guidance, for example on central management of cookie consent. For most small businesses, however, the data protection authority of their federal state is usually responsible.
