EEA
Abbreviation for European Economic Area
In short and in plain language
The EEA is a shared trade zone in Europe.
It takes in the states of the European Union. Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway are part of it too.
In this zone, the same data laws hold.
This counts for a website if its data is kept or used outside Germany. Hosting is one example.
Definition
The European Economic Area comprises the member states of the European Union plus Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Within the EEA the General Data Protection Regulation applies uniformly. For websites this matters when data is processed outside Germany, for example in hosting.
